Nice little journal. I got the passport size. And yes, whoever thought putting a round metal doodad on the back of the journal that keeps it from laying down flat was definitely having an off day. This can be removed with careful untying of the elastic cord and removing it. I'm much happier with it now.The leather is decent. It will age and get a patina with time.The kraft paper inserts it comes with are OK. You can use a fountain pen with it but be careful of the ink and FP nib used. If you keep to fine ore extra fine nibs and ink that forgives your paper choices you will be fine.I went with the passport style because I missed having a journal that could fit into any coat pocket. It's nice having something to jot down notes, quotes, thoughts and what have you at a moments notice. I would recommend this journal.
