I was looking for a lightweight scooter for my son to use on campus. Check out all reviews of some other brands like Xootr, Exooter, Oxelo etc. But they were either too expensive (over $200) or too heavy (over 10 pounds). The A5 weighs less than 9 pounds and is only $80. I looked at the Razor A6 first as I liked the slightly larger wheels. But then I noticed a flaw in the foldable design, which some readers reported caused their handlebars to fold in mid-ride (this happens when you don't tighten the fold screw enough). That's why I chose the A5 for safety reasons. It has the best folding/closing mechanism, is cheaper than all of the previous ones, and is well made. As soon as you unpack it you can tell that it is very durable and of high quality. I feel very comfortable because my son can ride it, throw it around campus, and it can still withstand the rigors of everyday life. The locking mechanism is not 100% solid (giving slightly) so it rattles a bit when you move the handle. But if you put some weight on it, it's rideable. I drove around the area last week and it's very smooth and glides beautifully over sidewalks. I replaced the bearings with a Bones REDS bearing and they made it even smoother. Definitely a good scooter and even better value at $80. Can't win!
