RJ45 jacks approximately 50 feet apart when connecting HD cameras. The original Cat5 cable works fine but I decided to upgrade to Cat6 for future technology. But that footage failed to carry a signal more than 50 feet away for the cameras. Several short test cords worked and were shortened to about 6 feet, although even then the resistance was so high that even the short test cords took about 10 times longer to sync the camera compared to the original Cat5. After many attempts to get this to work I had to rip everything out and start over. UPDATE: Bought CAT6 from another vendor and it worked as expected. As others have found, either the quality of this product is very poorly controlled or some shipments are not as described. This cable transmits an HD signal over very short distances only.
