I have several different Tascam digital audio recorders (DR-07, DR-05) and wanted a lighter shock mount for video recording. I usually bring pistol mics directly to the camera, but I also like to place the Tascam close to the subject as a backup. In the past I've found that recorders placed on the tabletop absorb every impact and adjustment of my objects' position, so I made some homemade shock absorbers that were effective but cumbersome and ugly. That seems to be my answer. The Movo has good isolation and the arms are not rigid but loose (which helps the recorder float). I particularly like that it can be mounted on either a hot shoe, a standard 1/4x20 thread, or a mic stand thread. This gives me many options to use. The assembly makes a solid and reliable impression. Comes in a nice retail box with instructions. (Movo SMM5-B Universal Microphone and Portable Recorder Shock Mount) I purchased this at regular Revain prices with no manufacturer discount or this review approval fee.
