Use cardboard instead

I bought this to protect my deck after the charcoal burned through in a few small spots. It turns out this is worse for the deck than coal or heat. It traps moisture underneath, damaging the decking wood and also getting very dirty and rough. In other words, you can't just leave it under the grill like you might expect. Rather, you should remove and store it after each use to avoid what I have described. This works well on concrete, but if your grill is on concrete, you don't need any of these to begin with. In short, you can use cardboard instead of spending $35.
