Review on 💨 Syba SY-NBK68010 Notebook Cooling Stand: Fan for 9-12 Inch Laptops by Cory Spence

In theory it works BUT the case design is bad

I would say I play quite a lot of games on my laptop. In my experience so far I have burned two laptops due to overheating of the HD motherboard and laptop battery. To make sure this doesn't happen again, I decided to buy my first ice pack, but I really don't want to spend $25 at Best Buy to buy something I don't know if it works or not no, so I thought so, go through Amazon to look for decent deals. I probably looked at at least 15-20 different cooling pads and their reviews before deciding to take a risk with the Syba cooling pad. I'm writing this review now after using it for at least two months. The first impression of the Syba Cooler Pad out of the box is pretty simple and elegant, but the leg hinges that elevate the Syba Cooler Pad feel flimsy and flimsy. I was very excited to test the tablet, so I immediately connected it to my laptop and turned it on. The fan is very quiet which is a plus but it's not very powerful so I was wondering if it would work for my laptop as the laptop can get very hot when I'm playing games on it. After two months of testing, the Syba still works perfectly and the legs still hold up even when I constantly put pressure on the laptop. Syba bothered me because although I can see the fan running and turning, the wind is so light I can hardly feel it unless I lean against it. That's when I decided to open a case and see why that is. In short, the metal grille on the fan that's supposed to direct airflow to the laptop actually restricts airflow. In my opinion this is pretty dumb because you've built a fan that works, but you've designed a case that completely negates what the fan is supposed to do (I've tried using a metal grille against a small but powerful fan in mine room and the grill blocks nearly 70% of the wind blowing in my face). Now I've removed the grille from the case to let the air out so the fan can do what it's supposed to do. The only downside to this is that there is a big hole in the middle and the fan is exposed, but my laptop can still stand on the case so I still use it. Advantages: Two display levels. Pretty big enough for most laptops, silent fan. On / off switch. There's an extra USB port, so you don't have to sacrifice a USB port for that. Cons: The frame is a bit lost for my taste, probably due to the plastic the frame is made of. If you don't move the Syba around too often, that's fine, but it's not for those who want to carry it around. Due to the design of the case, especially the metal grille that allows the laptop to sit on it, air is quite confined, which has a significant impact on the laptop's temperature. Personally I wouldn't recommend this pillow to anyone as the grille restricts almost all airflow (IMHO, poor design).

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
