Perfect, they stay on skates

My 3 year old daughter took ice skating lessons this winter. She must wear waterproof mittens or gloves to keep her hands warm and dry if she falls and has to touch the ice. We had a pair of mittens that she wore but they didn't stay on her hands. (Where we live in the Midwest, there isn't enough snow to need a good pair of winter mittens, so we usually settle for fairly cheap mittens.) I've been to a few stores last month looking for mittens, but this was freezing during that time (and towards the end of the winter season and a year into the pandemic) so there really weren't any options. My main criterion was that they were and REMAIN waterproof. (I'm so tired of watching her fidget in her mittens or, worse, interrupt her practice so the trainer can fix her.) She wanted yellow, her favorite color. (Impossible to find, so I told her she was out of luck.) Anyway, I settled on this one. They left Massachusetts, spending an inordinate amount of time at the post office along the way. I messaged the seller during the delay, they responded quickly, but I decided to just wait for the mittens to arrive. Long cuffs reach the daughter's elbow. (She's slightly above average height, slightly below average weight.) The first few times we struggled to get her thumb in the right place, but I think it was us, not the mittens. Now we're better. She wears mittens and puts on a hooded sweatshirt (ice rink hall) covering the long cuff and we adjust the armband. Since wearing them her hands are warm and dry. I didn't see her messing around with gloves. Hooray. I think we will use these mittens until she grows them and then we will pass them on to her little sister. If we ever get good winter snow (no thanks) and they want to play outside, it looks like they'd be fine for that too. I like the color purple - pretty and feminine, but not too bright.
