Case replaced my iPad Air1. (You're probably wondering what I'm doing with such an outdated device in 2020, but I'll get to that.) The case that houses the iPad is made of hard plastic. It snaps into place when applied. * It's not very flexible and if you have to take the case off and put it back on, you might damage the case. The body of the case is plastic and doesn't look like it will bounce much in falls. The lid flap is magnetic and folds easily, the sleep function works as expected. An iPad with a case fits well on my Logitech Bluetooth keyboard. Speakers and flashes are open. So if you drop it on a table and accidentally hit an unprotected part, it will be damaged. Excellent feel, comfortable to hold in hand. You probably won't find new cases for your iPad Air 1. Let's get back to the iPad. I recently received it for FREE. Most of what I've spent on the iPad is the case. I prefer to answer emails with my iPad than with my phone. I sent the device into dfu mode and reset the latest iOS itunes could give. Yes, it's stuck on iOS 12.9 because it's outdated, but I don't make AAA games like Modern Warfare or Fortnite on it. That's what my gaming computer is for. Games like Epic 7 run flawlessly on the device. The iPad still works with Netflix/web browsing/zoom/skype/outlook etc. The battery life is fantastic.
