Something happened in my black tank last night and I can't explain it. Yesterday around 1pm I put a scoop of Happy Campers down the toilet and filled the tank with fresh water until it was about 2/3 full. I woke up this morning, opened up the tank and watched it drain (above my clean Camco elbow). I couldn't believe what I saw. No brown or cloudy water, just clear (apparently clear) water flowing from my black reservoir. I had to check 3 times to make sure I had accidentally emptied my gray reservoir. I've never seen anything like this. I usually get a gush of dark brown liquid followed by light brown liquid and then cloudy water until the tank is empty. Somehow, through some crazy magic, the happy campers literally liquefied everything in the tank. All. The water looked clean enough to drink (although you would have to be crazy to do that). Oh, and the smell! The odor was still there but reduced by 75% which I am happy with after just one treatment. I left the fan on purposely and flushed the toilet for a good two minutes (usually a no go as the fumes are drawn from the black tank). As far as Happy Camper is concerned, that would be tantamount to suicide. I'm happy to report that I was able to breathe. Again some odor was present but less than 24 hours before this odor was overpowering and made me vomit. I just completely filled my black tank and added a scoop of Happy Camper. Let's see how it behaves in another 24 hours. For the past two years I've used a chemical treatment that seemed to work but just masked the smell with a strong perfume. I'll get back to you after the second treatment to let you know how it was.
