I was looking for hard cases that weren't too expensive ($500) or cheap ($50). They're mid-range quality, with the simple, clean lines I've been looking for, and (unlike similar bags) have a snap closure. That latch was an important feature for me - I wouldn't trust the locks on these things to work properly. Both the bolt and the lock are pretty cheap. The panniers are made of ABS plastic and are thick enough to hold their shape. The support brackets are made from fairly thick steel - much stronger than the "universal" pannier racks that you bolt together. However, saddlebags and support mounts seem to be two common sets that put them together in one package: they weren't designed together. As a result, the last two holes in the bracket do not come into contact with the plastic side wall of the case - only two of the four holes in the bracket can be used. In addition, the bracket itself runs below the saddlebag. So here are two suggested modifications: Structural: Drill a screw hole in the top of the bracket to add a third point of contact between the case and the bracket. That third screw is a must in my opinion.- Aesthetics: Cut off the excess strap protruding from under the bag (a hacksaw with a metal blade will work). If you don't mind, skip this change. Once installed I ran them to over 65mph and they felt safe. Overall I'm happy with the build for the price considering the changes above. Drive safe.
