My goal was to mount this on a piece of wood panel in my RV. The wood is about 1/2" thick. I removed the knob from the switch, and there is a piece of plastic that is about 1/2" thick. I would guess this might fit on a metal panel less that 1/16" thick. I removed the extra plastic piece and drilled a center hole and 4 screw holes, and had to get a much longer 4/40 screw to re-attach the knob. it is functioning in my application, but would be much nicer in a thin metal panel. For functionality, I wired it to my generator and had the built-in Coleman rooftop air conditioner running for about 20 minutes with no airflow around the switch, and it was cool to the touch, so I am confident it will carry enough current for my RV needs.
