They are larger than normal figure skates and the shoe looks more like a hockey shoe. My teenager loves them and uses them for skating (beginners) with no problem. But if you're looking for traditional skates for skating lessons, these boots aren't for you. They are very soft and very warm - they are true to size - and my daughter said they "look very cool" but the trainer called them "different" so maybe they aren't the first from that point of view Choice.
