It is comfortable and comfortable for the back and neck. This is the first bath pillow I've used that really feels like a pillow because it's so comfortable. It's more like a big, comfy sponge than some of the inflatable or rigid bath pillows I've used. Being spongy, it does not attempt to swim when its back is dipped in bath water. I think there might be an air inflatable insert in the neck area but I'm not sure. All I know is the extra support for my neck and the relief to relax. The suction cups hold very well and are large. Small lugs on the suction cups make it easy to remove from the tub wall when you're done. The mesh cover is very nice and comfortable to lie on. There is a hook for hanging and it is machine washable.
