I've had an old Bose SoundDock Portable for about 10 years and wanted to replace it with something smaller that sounds better but is just as loud. That narrowed my list down to Beoplay A1, JBL Charge 3 and the new Bose Revolve. The JBL was the cheapest on the list and arguably louder than the A1 and Revolve, but the A1 just sounded a lot cleaner and the bass, while slightly lower, was more accurate than the Charge 3. The new Bose Revolve just doesn't Sound quality but it has better 360 dispersion outdoors and freezes. I ruled out Bose because it has the weakest volume of the 3. So it was between the Charge 3 or the A1. In the end, purity of sound and design won out and I went with the A1. The Charge 3 doesn't fall far behind and doubles as a portable phone charger, but I didn't really like the design and the bass quality was worse than the A1 (louder but not as tight) that I bought. an A1 and I liked it so much I decided to buy another one. It took some time to figure out the pairing mode and it turns out that pairing without an app is much easier and more reliable. For those who have stereo pairing problem, please do this without app: 1) Turn on A1 first, then press and hold the Bluetooth button for 5 seconds until the light flashes white. (Now it is Main speaker and LEFT channel) 2) Wait 20 seconds until you hear a beep. 3) Turn on the second A1, then press and hold the Bluetooth button for 5 seconds until the indicator flashes white. stable white. 5) Pair your phone with FIRST A1 (main speaker) and then play the audio.
