Only if you use it to temper chocolate

The packaging says it's just for the hard crack stage, but it deviates by 10 degrees after about 150*F . My fondant won't set because it hasn't reached the softball stage. I tested it on another digital thermometer and on an analog (murder and glass) thermometer. Good for tempering chocolate.
