Review on Olympus VN 3200 Digital Voice Recorder by Derek Dolla

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect for my needs.

First, this is the first digital recorder I've used, at least for production reasons. I am currently a student and hate taking notes so it occurred to me that I could record all my classes on a digital voice recorder and store them on my computer for future reference. The duration of my courses varies between 1.5 and 3 hours. Pros: - Inexpensive, but not cheap - Non-proprietary USB connection to a computer - Files are saved in WMA format and the computer recognizes the device as mass storage for easy drag and drop, copy and paste. -Comes with a USB cable -Small and portable -Ability to set microphone sensitivity to conference (high) or dictation (low) -Easy to read and understand screen structure -Good built-in menu options (e.g. battery saving options, screen contrast, recording quality, volume) -Good instructions -Integrated microphone and phone jacks -Indexing -Voice activation Cons: -Does not come with two AAA batteries which are required for operation -Does not come with carrying case or lanyard -128MB expandable memory) I would like to point out that this Device uses the same manual as the Olympus VN-5200 and that the recording time for the VN-3200 is 8 hours 40 minutes for HQ mode, 17 hours 10 minutes for SP mode and 54 hours 40 minutes for LP mode. This device suits my needs but may not have a ding length entry that suits you but overall 5 stars.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • There are flaws
