I bought two of these because I often swap my peripherals between two computers (several times a day). I have a USB hub that I connect all my peripherals to. When I switch computers, I unplug the USB hub and plug it into another computer. I use one of these on each computer and connect the USB hub to it instead of directly to the computer. I do this to protect the ports on my computers as the constant cycling can wear out the ports. I'd rather lose one of these guys than lose a port on either computer. I've been doing this for over a year now and it's great!
