They seem pretty good for the money.

As a winter rider who suffers from cold hands even in the warmest mittens, I think this is a great update. I've ridden successfully in the low single digits with these and only midweight wool gloves. I rode them in freezing temperatures in the low single digits and wore another pair of gloves over a midweight glove. Never more than an hour at a time, but it suits my needs quite well. I've tried some cheap roller pastes before which were useless so I hesitated with them but I'm glad I made the purchase. There are a few quirks though: 1. It would be nice if both mittens had a pocket instead of just one - I think they would be a good place to put those hand warmers in (although I haven't tried it yet). 2. They have drawstrings that wrap around the cables/handlebars at the end, which prevents a lot of cold air from getting in, but not all. I added some strong paperclips to secure mine more tightly - which was an improvement. I will try to make some foam end caps which I think would be even better. 3. They also have a strap around the armhole but the little bead that tightens them doesn't hold up well so it loosens a lot while riding. Hand insertion can also be difficult. It's easy with the first hand as you can hold the glove with your other hand, but when you put your other hand in, the glove moves forward on the handlebars. It's best to just slide it in and then take your hand back. (although this will weaken the armhole).5. There is a lot of space in the mitten (and between the mitten and balaclava). I was thinking of stuffing it with light insulation (like grocery bags or newspaper) or wrapping the balaclava with an extra layer of felt or something. . It can never be too hot. But if you just want a decent cake and don't want to shell out $100-$250 for it, I think they will probably get the job done. (If you ride single digit trails or less for hours, the more expensive ones might be for you.)

Pros
  • 5. Reflective: The logo and pattern reflect light well, which makes you feel safe when driving in the dark.
Cons
  • Not everything fits
