I used this Micro SD in ROKU 3. (Yes, I know 8GB is too much for ROKU, but I'm exaggerating everything). When you see a screen that says the SD card has been detected and asks if you want to format it, click the "Format" button. It will format part of it (maybe 50 or 60%) and then go back to SD detected. Screen. Just be patient, press "format" again and it will format some more and then go back to that "recognized" screen. You may have to do this 4 or 5 times before ROKU will format the whole thing. Eventually it will, and on the Settings - About screen you will see the SD card below, which is 7.8GB in size (this is the correct size as hard drive manufacturers and others started adding KB a few years ago define). like 1000 bytes instead of 1024 bytes - they seem bigger. This lie created a mathematical error that will stay with us forever. Any 8GB card will show up as 7.8GB.) None of the above nonsense means there is anything wrong with that SD card. ROKU can be picky at times. BTW I used the same brand of board in Raspberry PI and it worked fine.
