One of those good ideas poorly executed

I always thought screen magnifiers were mostly useless on a phone, so my expectations weren't very high to begin with. However, I saw a Cinyuze phone magnifier with a foldable stand and thought I would buy one for my nephew. I figured he could use a magnifying glass to watch videos on his phone and use an extra phone stand. The advantage of the Cinyuze phone magnifier and stand is that the magnifier can be separated so you have a separate stand. It helps with portability and versatility. As for other phone magnifiers that don't have a detachable magnifier, you probably won't use them unless you're planning on watching a video, and when packaged, their surface area is larger. The phone stand works well. The area where you hold the phone is wide enough for most phones, even when the phone is in an "armored" or rugged case. The stand folds down to about the thickness of the phone and fits in the palm of your hand. The magnifying glass is attached to an articulated arm that fits into slots on the top of the phone stand. The hand holds a magnifying glass in front of the phone screen. The lens has circles, so there is some distortion at the edges, and the ideal spot for watching videos is near the center. The lens performs decently for the most part, but the image is slightly washed out and again slightly distorted at the edges. You could live with all of that. The problem is that the lens is too heavy for the swivel mount it attaches to and then connects to the phone stand. So it's almost impossible to adjust it to get a good viewing angle. Even if I had just one bad phone from a batch, I think that over time everyone will have this problem. The Cinyuze phone magnifier and stand proved useless. Considering the design flaw and the fact that it currently costs a paltry $26, I'd suggest buying another one.
