Review on πŸ”Š Wolverine WIOS-5.8 Wireless Indoor-Outdoor Twin Speakers: 5.8GHz and Bluetooth Dual Band Surround Sound (Gray) by Shigg Bigbee

Revainrating 3 out of 5

decent sound, awkward setup

These speakers have a beautiful, modern look with clean lines and a touch of retro style. They go well with our modern industrial ground floor and thanks to their hue can be a fun addition to a child's bedroom or garden party. The handles feel comfortable, without them carrying would be inconvenient. Gray plastic is smooth. I worry that it will be easily marked. For an indoor/outdoor unit, a more durable textured plastic would probably be a better choice. While the remote control is appreciated, I like being able to customize the speakers myself. The buttons are simple, clear and intuitive. The volume can be regulated and the light and the loudspeaker itself can be switched on and off. Because they use batteries in wireless mode, I consider them plug-in speakers with a battery option rather than fully wireless speakers. Our only other Bluetooth speaker, the Bose, has a power supply with an internal battery. A rechargeable battery would be a huge improvement to the way our family uses these speakers. However, if I were to sit in the back all day or take them on a hike, I would prefer them as they are. pleasant sound. I don't like taking my Bose speakers outside, but I can take them outside and on the patio because they were made for that purpose. When placed on opposite sides of a room, they produce a rich sound that makes movies that much better. Our two older children like to use them instead of a stereo. They can play music on it via their iPads. If we have family movie night or friends, they take them downstairs or outside. When used outdoors, the small built-in green turn signals can be illuminated to make them easy to find in the dark. My biggest issue with these speakers has to do with their setup. I'm not very tech savvy, but I don't usually have a problem setting up electronic devices. Installation here required sitting down with instructions. I wish the speakers themselves would use Bluetooth. The principle of operation is that in addition to the speakers, you need to use a small separate relay box. Yes, you need three sockets for the whole setup. Each speaker, relay box, and your device should be fairly close together (about 20 feet, I would guess), with no walls or many people in between. You cannot place each speaker on either side of the party yard. Cables further limit placement, they can be several feet longer. While these are good basic speakers, they do have some downsides. The required relay box, short cables and less durable plastic combined with so-so sound quality make it a worthy option in a sea of equally worthy options.
