I flashed the supplied ESP-01 module using esphhome. It wouldn't start at all unless connected to the programming board. ESP-01 modules require GPIO2 connected to VCC to boot. fine. This module had no resistor to pull GPIO2 up to VCC. So it's stuck in limbo without loading. I soldered a 220k resistor between GPIO2 and VCC and now the ESP-01 boots when connected to the temperature sensor module. The supplied soldered DHT11 temperature module is far from ideal. It regularly reports temperature and/or humidity levels that are outside of the range that I need to filter. And this is what the housing for the DHT11 temperature sensor looks like. melted. I suspect that the module was exposed to temperatures far beyond its limits during soldering. The voltage regulator built into the module seems to be fine and the 8-pin socket seems to be making good contact with the pins. DHT11 and add your own alternative temperature sensor to replace it (with the appropriate pullup resistor so it actually boots).
