This thing will cut your hands

I've had this tripod for a little over a year and use it weekly. This is really a mediocre product. . It's been like this since day one, it needs a very, very tight mount to hold it in place. I absolutely would not use this with a slider and a heavy camera. The leg locking buttons all loosen over time and you might not even notice! They screw into the hitch bolts and will loosen over time. Put some Loctite on it. The upper pairs of legs are dangerous. The pinch bolts actually protrude from the outside in, where you often have to use your hand to loosen and tighten the bowl. The ends of the screws are actually truncated, not trimmed, meaning the threads are razor sharp. I cut my hands several times on these screws, in the end I just pulled them back and sawed off the edges. The "Fluid Head" is not a true liquid head and has very erratic starts and stops when panning and tilting. Everything started well, but in the last year it has deteriorated a lot. The tilt is largely based solely on friction. Panning is also controlled via a friction knob, but this is usually like a liquid pan head. The quick release plate is actually compatible with Manfrotto 357 style plates which was a nice addition. The locking mechanism is a little tricky to use, though, and on DSLRs you'll find that it and the pan knobs get in the way of most battery compartments, meaning you'll often have to take the camera head off to change the battery. secure. Again, I use this tripod several times a week so it gets a lot of use. But after a year I would consider this tripod disposable. You're not going to get a quality product for $150, and that's the point.
