Review on πŸ’ͺ Xiaomi Mi Band 5 (Black): The Ultimate Fitness Tracker for Achieving Your Health Goals by Juan Harrington

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cheap? Yes! Fantastic performance? - Can you say it out loud!

Like:1. The step count seems accurate - I've compared Google Fit steps and multiple apps, the count seems accurate enough, and since my bracelet is on my wrist almost all the time, I get credit for every step! 2. It is compatible with Notify & Fitness, an app that makes the most of the device by providing a wealth of health stats not found in the native Mi Fit. 3. Heart rate seems accurate. I compared the readings with my Omron 10 BP7450 monitor and some apps, mostly in the plus/minus 3 range, which is surprising as the heart rate never fluctuates from minute to minute. I particularly like the ability to track the heart rate graph while you sleep and the fact that the vibrations can wake you up if your heart rate gets too low (if you set this up in a third-party paid app). 4. The battery is fine, not sure if I can last 14 days but I seem guaranteed 6-8 days which is great as I use continuous heart rate monitoring at night and a 5 minute heart rate monitor during the day Interval (guess what that drains the battery !) 1. Sleep data is hit and miss - it always underestimates my sleep hours, I suspect possible movement prior to falling asleep into deep sleep is tricking the app into believing You are awake. 2. My only bike ride was not recorded despite tracking, says the route is too short (note: Google Fit recognized this and automatically recorded it without tracking, the Notify app too) - Mi Fit app looks confused when I've definitely finished it myself ride where I started (on my doorstep) but a 2+km ride (over 1 mile) with a heart rate rising over 150 bpm a few times should be enough for a good app.

Pros

Cons
  • High price
