Review on Garmin Forerunner 310XT Waterproof Running by Manny Darawi

Good for distance and time but not good for pace

Works very well for capturing distance, time and altitude and the battery lasts a long time. I've had a TomTom watch before and this one seems better and more durable (albeit a lot bigger). The only complaint (aside from the size) is that the GPS-only pace/speed measurement currently works well with this device or any other, and you'll find that your estimated speed jumps around quite a bit. One second you're running at a pace of 9:30, the next second at a pace of 11:15, although your pace hasn't really changed. Sometimes you find that your registered pace when walking under trees suddenly slows sharply and then speeds up as you return to a clearing where satellites can better find you. Pace metrics are fine for checking your average pace per mile or throughout your run, but if you want a really accurate pace reading of how fast you're going at any given point, you'll need an additional Garmin foot. Pod, pair it with your watch, then go to settings and tell the pedometer to measure your speed. This works much better.
