Don't slam it: Scratching Posts

I bought this for cats to use in my daughter's room because it looked so darn cute. Somehow nicer living. The cactus is soft and more like a stuffed animal at the top, and the flower has a little padding. The cats liked it and immediately started wallowing on the flower and scratching the pole. To assemble it you just have to glue the parts on the board. Easy, took less than a minute. And here is my problem. My 5 year old accidentally tripped over one of the two cats and bumped into it on the way down. I was there when it happened. She fell not on top of him but beside him, her hand touching the edge of the flower on the way down. No bruises or anything, she didn't fall that hard and jumped up without stopping. However, the flower is completely destroyed. He ended up tearing the bar off completely, leaving a metal screw still attached to the bar. The cardboard underneath is already completely torn and I can't fix it. I am keeping this 3 stars because I just removed the perch and placed the flower directly on the base for the cats to use. They both don't seem to mind and sit and lie on it anyway. So be very careful with that. The bloom is not very strong. The part of the cactus that scratches the pole is perfectly fine. If a piece of wood was placed under the flower instead of thick cardboard, it would be 5 stars and therefore more stable for cats. Still adorable and I would buy another to replace this one. Looks much better than traditional cat scratching posts.
