Ignore moody (new company) people. Mine came from.

Don't pay attention to capricious (new society) people. Mine came with a red cap. Screws didn't work for my application. A quick trip to the local hardware store and $1 later I have the right ones. I used (4) 14x3/4 screws. Very well done. thick metal. The rail fails before the bracket. It has a spring that helps open and close the device.

Not as pictured or described

This item claims to come with the required screws but does not. The photo shows a rubber tip for more convenient locking/unlocking of the slider - it is not present. The photo and description is now what you will actually receive in the package. The rubber tip is less annoying than missing screws. I don't know how to drive into the garage without her. This part of the description should be removed - and instead listed as "NO shipment included with required screws" - if they refuse to ship theโ€ฆ

Good thing Bad directions and useless screws

A simple device. Very easy to use. But like the others, I got carriage bolts [rectangular subheads] instead of **bolts**. These screws didn't go in the round holes. And they are so long that they would stick out from behind the garage door. All the thief has to do is loosen each nut and slide the bolt back through the door. If the bolt isn't sticking out, how would you hold the nut when tightening the bolt? Useless. The guide is full of jargon. The drawing is also accurate but not clear. It was

Easy installation with metal screws

I really like how durable this unit is. You screw it directly into your garage door with metal screws and a drill. They contained four large bolts that you could probably use if you wanted to drill through the door, but that seems like an overkill. It would be possible to pre-drill the holes and then the screws could be screwed in more easily. Deducting a star because the directions are pointless. Thank god for YouTube. Search for "How to Install a Sliding Garage Door Lock". I needed a helperโ€ฆ

You should provide sheet metal screws, not bolts.

The screw itself is well made and works as it should. They did, however, include 1 1/2" socket head screws instead of self-tapping screws. Yes, some garage doors have pre-drilled holes, but you'll probably have luck if only one set of pre-drilled holes will fit. Get a pair of #12 x 1-inch hex head screws for that Sheet metal. Most frame/door rails have a vertical slot or a punched rectangular hole that you can align the latch with to protect your door. I also recommend getting a garage guardโ€ฆ

WHINE! Stops a thief from remote phishing

Early one morning we found both garage doors WIDE OPEN knowing we would check all the doors before we went to bed and left the house. The only solution we could think of was for someone to use remote phishing to figure out where to go back and where to steal from. I found these locks, hubs installed with self-tapping screws (the supplied bolts are useless for this application. ATTENTION MANUFACTURER). TEN minutes later all three garage doors can be locked. Later in the days as we were gettingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Almost OK

Sturdy construction. Installation notes for beginners like me; get 4 #14 3/4" screws for each lock. The ones offered by Revane are too light. The screws cost 45 cents each in Ace. I'm not sure what the bolts that came with the lock are for, presumably for a different door than mine. If your garage doesn't currently have this type of lock, you may need to knock out a cutout in the track to insert the deadbolt into the lock. Super easy, a heavy duty screwdriver and hammer quickly remove a pieceโ€ฆ

super hard work! Best in Hardware

Got them this afternoon and installed them tonight. I had to flip the latches but that's no problem, just pull the screw on the plaid and swap. I had just had my hangar door repaired (two 20ft pivot garage doors) and the technician told me to replace the shoddy locks (20 years old) with new ones. They worked great, were durable, easy to install and I LOVE the red vinyl covers on the throws. See photo. The bolts provided (seen in other reviews) are for new installations only, YOU WILL NOT WEARโ€ฆ
