I really like how durable this unit is. You screw it directly into your garage door with metal screws and a drill. They contained four large bolts that you could probably use if you wanted to drill through the door, but that seems like an overkill. It would be possible to pre-drill the holes and then the screws could be screwed in more easily. Deducting a star because the directions are pointless. Thank god for YouTube. Search for "How to Install a Sliding Garage Door Lock". I needed a helper to hold the lock against the door while I turned the first screw. The hole is there so you can attach the lock to the lock, but I don't see the need for it.
