Description of Eco-Friendly Solarez UV Cure Grain Filler & Sealer - Perfect For Fine Furniture, Guitars, Pool Cues And DIY Woodworking!

Solarez UV Cure Grain Filler & Sealer DO NOT OPEN OUTSIDE OR NEAR SUNLIGHT! Once UV curing process has started, it cannot be stopped. Product will cure inside bottle if exposed to Sunlight or other form of UV light. Cures by chemical reaction and requires less build-up to fill open grain woods. Reacts not by evaporation but by photochemical reaction in seconds, not hours. Summer sunlight is best and a sunlamp will work well in winter. UV flashlights can be used but will require 385nm coverage and will take longer. Thicker than 3/25 inch may require layering to cure completely though. Less shrinkage than solvent-borne or water-borne evaporatives. Cures exceptionally dry unlike other UV cure resins that cure tacky.

Fast & easy to sand with no shrinking!

I love this stuff to fill grain & seal wood on open grain wood, for me that usually Mahogany. You can tint it to contrast & bring out the appearance of the grain. Cures bone dry in 3 minutes in the sun. Sands easy to level out. 2 coats & your sealed & ready for paint or clear coat. No shrinkage either so no grain lines appearing latter. Fast & easy. This is my second time ordering & it arrived fast. Great stuff & I highly recommend.

Pros
  • {}
Cons
  • Dries quickly, which may make it difficult to work with for novice woodworkers

Doesn't cure in the sunlight (UV) as advertised.

It very well be do to user error but I have tried this on a couple of different wooden items, including a guitar. No matter how long I let it sit in the direct sun the product just wouldn't cure and remained tacky.

Pros
  • Adhesives & Sealers
Cons
  • May require multiple coats to achieve desired results, adding extra time and effort to the process

Very Interesting Product

Wanted to use this as a grain filler on walnut lumber. The product goes on really easy, I just squeegeed it on with a credit card. A little product goes a long way especially when you are applying the second coat, If you add a second coat. When you get it in the sun it cures quickly and that will let you put on two or even three coats in a single day. WARNING you must have direct sun shine if it is overcast it is much harder to get it to cure properly. Small lights will not cure it for you…

Pros
  • Sealers
Cons
  • Can be difficult to remove if applied improperly or if the end result is unsatisfactory

Smelly, Doesn't lay down well even when scraped off

First off even with a Mask rated for gas-fumes it will tear your lungs up it smells just like Fiberglass Resin. It laid on a guitar body with lots off lines and runs even when scraping it off and it also starts taking some of the stain with it so be careful.Hopefully this will sand out because I have a lot of sanding to do ahead of me not looking forward to the polyester finish step if I even get that far.

Pros
  • Less shrinkage than solvent-borne or water-borne evaporatives.
Cons
  • May not adhere well to certain types of wood or finishes, requiring additional preparation work

Cures in direct sunlight.

Works just as stated. If it is below 70° F make sure you give it a little extra sun time to cure. Also, use a respirator. It smells like old time model airplane glue. Watch Highline guitar videos, on YouTube, for application tips.

Pros
  • Use it for sealing guitars... Great Stuff!!
Cons
  • Requires UV light to cure, which may not be readily available in all environments

Would not dry on my review.

Watched you tube clip and followed directions. Just a gooey mess. May have ruined a guitar top too soon to tell. Thin wood so could not sand off. Used alcohol and got most off but wood is damaged. Never use this product!

Pros
  • A Great Grain Filler and cures in the sunlight! How cool is that???? A++++
Cons
  • Seems to never dry!

Slightly longer cure time in northern states but works great

Used on a custom pine amp cabinet. Stained first the grained sealed with Solarez. In Florida or Texas in may cure in 3-5 minutes. I gave it 15-20 minutes in NY til cured but still saves lots of time.

Pros
  • Top coat for solarez, great product
Cons
  • Can be difficult to apply evenly, resulting in an uneven finish

Fumey and Tacky, but still a good product

Make sure to stir it to make sure everything is mixed properly before use. It is advertised as a non-fumey, non tacky, quick finish. Unfortunately you cant have it all. It still has a powerful smell, but not as toxic as a laquer. The stuff cures a bit tacky, and sanding between coats is definitely advised. Besides those errors in their advertising, it still is a great product that cures quickly and works great to fill and seal the grain. Highly recommend!

Pros
  • Reacts not by evaporation but by photochemical reaction in seconds, not hours. Summer sunlight is best and a sunlamp will work well in winter. UV flashlights can be used but will require 385nm coverage and will take longer. Thicker than 3/25 inch may require layering to cure completely though.
Cons
  • Can be prone to cracking or peeling over time, reducing its longevity

GREAT SOLUTION TO THE GRAIN FILL ISSUE

I've reviewed this product before, but I'll just say again, it's fantastic. It is the best grain filler that I've found and I've tried a ton of them. Really awesome stuff.

Pros
  • Cures by chemical reaction and requires less build-up to fill open grain woods.
Cons
  • May not provide enough filling power for very large gaps or holes

P.J.C's Review. on my review.

I used this stuff on a Bench I built to help protect it from the Weather and only a few Weeks later I have to completely Sand and Remove as much as I can so I can repair the Bench. So I am Never getting this Again also the stuff didn't cure in 3 or 5 minutes under 3 Bright UV Lights it only cured under Real Sun Light.

Pros
  • Tools & Home Improvement
Cons
  • Can be more expensive than traditional fillers or sealers
