I use this with Skullcandy headphones. I figured something was wrong with the cable as I couldn't get the mic signal through it. I connected the cable so that the volume/mute end connects to the headphone jack. I accidentally mixed up the cable so the mic/volume control end was on the computer side. Miraculously, I had a microphone signal on my computer. Everything else works too, the mute button and the volume control. Luckily I just bought a mute board so the end of this cable is on my desk and the mute/volume button is easily accessible. It would suck if it went straight to the back of my desktop.
