I am a 66 yrs young gold prospector and metal detectorist, and my dog and I go into the Washington State (wet) woods EVERY day, Rain or Shine. I wear this coat for protection from the woods in two ways. I wear this coat with my detecting tool belt; rock hammer, digger tool, machete, k-bar knife, tool and treasure pouch (a heavy belt on outside of coat) and my personal carry weapon, inside, and push through the thick, sometimes wet bushes, brambles and woods of Washington State for two months and it has kept me and my weapon (inside) dry and comfortable, not too hot with exertion, and the outside, so far has repelled water AND sharp stick damage. It also appears to repel the dirt. I dig as a prospector and detector. I find treasure in my coat, with my dog alongside as witness. I have NOT used it in Pouring rain. I don't go out in that, If I do, I use a raincoat. It's hard to dig for treasure in pouring mud. I am Impressed. I have field tested this jacket approx. 50 times and I may get another just for because. I will wait a few more trips through the woods and weather, but so far VERY GOOD. Light rain, wet bushes, trail hike, pretty good coat. And we look good for the bad guy surprise. (ccw)
