I put velcro on the belt so I can thread the belt through the metal buckle and just pull down the velcro on my right side of the belt. Why? It is easier to remove when you need to quickly remove the belt. I have to take diuretic "water pills" and don't have time to mess with the belt buckle technique. It also looks pretty neat. Alteration cost: Velcro = $1-3 (surplus in store) and a sewing shop to sew Velcro to a belt, $5 for 3 belts. I love these belts.
