Just doesn't compare to other options

When my Catgenie system broke after 3 years of conscientious ownership reduced. I was so frustrated that I decided I wanted a cheaper option that didn't come with my lines. After about a day and a half of research, I settled on Littermaid as a replacement. A month later and I'm filled with nothing but regrets. The other negative reviews you read are unfortunately true. The only advantage of this system over a traditional tray is that you don't have to empty it every day. If all of this is important to you, then this machine might just be for you. However, be aware. Maid: * leaves garbage dust and "crumbs" on the ground around the garbage can she scoops into. * constantly smells disgusting. You must completely change the pen every three (3) days or it will start to smell like ammonia. And I mean STRONG. I almost passed out the first time I completely replaced the box. *Because of this, my cat started pooping in my bedroom because he hated him so much after years of being in the cat spirit. I can only imagine it because he hates the smell too. * You will spend a fortune on kitty litter, not to mention trash cans. The only thing I saw in the negative reviews that didn't match my assessment was the noise. People complain about the volume but literally from 30 seconds to a minute of noise. It's a high-pitched screech, but after years of torturing the feline spirit, it really isn't that bad. Now, head down from failure, I return to cat spirit. If you're trying to decide between this and the more expensive cat box option, I recommend you just spend your money upfront. In the long run you will feel better. And if that's all you can spend on a self-cleaning box, do yourself a favor and just make a habit of cleaning your analog cat box every day. You won't have a better time with this thing. Pros of a Scavenger: *relatively cheap *no connection to your plumbing required *frame is relatively light *actually not as noisy as people complain. Disadvantages of the scavenger: *hardly any effort saved compared to the conventional litter box* is extremely messy. Not all waste ends up in the bin. * smells just as bad, if not worse, than a traditional litter box * litter needs to be changed as often or more often than a traditional litter box costs for a more expensive system (catgenie) * if your cats aren't used to it, they'll hate it

Pros
