I've read a lot of reviews from people who said they couldn't tell this cable apart from an Apple extension cable that costs ten dollars more. I assure you there is definitely a difference. The weight/thickness of this cable is lighter and the flexibility is less, ie the plastic housing is more rigid and brittle. But for my home-only use, it's fine and worth the saving. I can't comment on durability as I've only had it for a few months. If you're looking for a workhorse that can go anywhere and shoot a lot, I'd just stick with the Apple-issued cable. It's definitely better.
