does the job; It could be better.

I've had this toilet seat for almost 2 months now and have used and tested all of the functions. This is the second bidet seat I own, the second is a Toto K300. Knowing these two seats, I couldn't help but compare them. INSTALLATION The Kohler BH-90 wins by a mile. I had a brief moment where I couldn't figure out which of the hoses connected to the seat (it's white), but otherwise everything was smooth. The installation took about 15 minutes in total. The Toto K300 included 3 hours of screwing parts the wrong way round, a trip to the hardware store and some eau de toilette splashing on my face. It was a nuisance enough that, as much as I love this seat now, I didn't immediately contact Toto for a second seat. Winner: Michigan-based Kohler BH-90SEAT WARMERI. It's cold here 7 months a year. So I didn't turn on power save mode. No, I wanted a warm toilet seat as soon as I sat down. Kohler BH-90 is good in this regard. The seat is not cold, but not warm either. It's just "good". It heats up to the desired temperature within a minute. On the other hand, the Toto K300 heats up perfectly from the moment I sit down. Winner: Toto K300BIDET Before we get into the Kohler BH-90 bidet, I should mention that this toilet seat is extra large. It hangs a little above my standard American toilet. Not enough to break the deal, but it shows. Not only is the seat itself large, but the opening is also large. That doesn't seem like a big deal until you try a bidet. Oddly enough, the Kohler BH-90 atomizer only sticks out slightly to the rear, even if you change the setting to the front-most spray option. You have to sit all the way back to get to the jet, and even then it's usually not enough to keep water from splashing onto the seat back. I'm not sure why the designers decided that such a huge seat only deserved a tiny atomizer, but it's a serious design flaw. Everything else (pressure, temperature) is fine. The Toto K300 definitely wins in the bidet category. It does exactly what you want in a bidet, nothing more nothing less. And while it's a small thing, the K300 allows you to save 2 custom settings on the remote control so you don't have to adjust position, temperature or water flow every time. Winner: Toto K300DRYER dryer for Kohler. BH-90 is not good. Seriously, pretend it's not there. It's very flimsy, and if you try to crank the temperature up to "dry faster" the seat in the back gets unbearably hot. Just use toilet paper. The Toto K300 has a working dryer. It lasts a few minutes, does not overheat, copes with its task. I didn't even think twice about a dryer for this seat until I tried the dryer for the Kohler BH-90. I reevaluated the Toto K300 dryer. Winner: Toto K300DEODORIZER This is a feature you don't know about until you have it. The Kohler BH-90 deodorant works quite well 8/10 times. But sometimes you still feel something. On the other hand, Toto K300 Deodorant makes you think your shit doesn't stink. Winner: Toto K300OTHER The auto open/close feature for the Kohler BH-90 is pretty cool. Not necessarily, but it's a nice luxury. Toto K300, the mid-range model of this brand, does not have this feature. Sometimes I go to the toilet and expect it to open on its own and that's it. no Night light is a feature I don't use. I first turned it on to test (it works) but have since turned it off to save power. FYI if you need this feature it's not very clear in the instructions but the buttons you have to hold down to turn it on are on the side of the toilet itself, not on the remote control. In summary, this is a normal toilet seat. . This works well enough as long as you don't plan on using the bidet feature. It doesn't look like it's worth its $500 asking price. If I were to buy a third bidet seat I would buy a different Toto model, frustrating setup and all.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
