I've always been skeptical about open litter boxes because every cat I've had has had trouble fiddling with the sides of the litter box. But this box has nice high sides on three sides and a decent entry - it was an instant favorite with both my cats and they had no problems with the mess at all. They don't even track the junk out of that box. It's not a huge box but big enough for my 16lb Maine Coon. She doesn't have much room to do anything other than turn around, but she definitely likes this tray compared to other large drawers I have. The sleek style goes well with my modern home decor, and the rounded edges make this drawer easier to clean than any other box I've tried. The protection around the top of the box is very easy to remove, but that's not a problem if it's in place and left to the cats. I will replace other boxes with this style, my cats love it so much!
