It's easier to connect if it has a trailer light socket.
Running light and brake light do not work. I am a trained mechanic. I'm always adding. The brake and running lights didn't come on even when I hooked them up to a known good car. I have already ordered another one. I'll see if the new bar works. This is a good product when it works, especially for the money.
