Review on Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Essential Dock (40AV0135EU) by Wiktor Niedzicki ᠌

A normal product, however, does not fully correspond to the description.

In the official Lenovo forum, users have made a number of reports concerning similar issues over the course of the past two years. The problem cannot be resolved by updating the UEFI and drivers on the laptop or the firmware on the docking station. Got pros: 1) a large number of connections. 2) A port capable of Gigabit Ethernet. 3) compact. 4) The button on the docking station may be used to power up the laptop without having to move your hand from the button. Got cons: 1) When the speakers are connected to the 3.5" connector on the laptop and the laptop is turned off, an annoying intermittent squeak may be heard coming from the speakers. This squeak goes away as soon as the laptop is turned back on. 2) The docking station gets as hot as a frying pan even when only one full-high-definition 60 hertz monitor is connected to it. 3) After a few of hours of use, the linked monitor will begin to intermittently shut off for a few seconds at a time. Sometimes the monitor will not come back to life at all; other times, it will be stuck on a gray (or red, or purple, or magenta, etc.) background, and the only way to fix this is to unhook the thunderbolt cable; the display itself will not fix the problem. simultaneously, the functionality of the other peripherals has not been affected in any way. I have a sneaking suspicion that all of this is a direct result of item 2. Because of this, I was forced to avoid connecting the screen to the dock and instead use the HDMI cable to connect it straight to the laptop.
