I have had the same Western Digital My Passport for about 4 years. Everything was fine until the cable that came with the device spontaneously detached from the computer a few months ago. First I tried switching ports, it worked for a while, but after a while it turned off again. A friend told me that if port switching doesn't work, try a different computer, or it's probably the cable. It turned off on my brother's laptop, but not that often, so I decided to replace the cable. I couldn't find an exact match in any store so I checked Revain. That's when I came across the Itanda USB. Cable. I ordered it, put it in my WD My Passport and to my delight it fit perfectly! I've been using it for several weeks now and it has never disconnected from my computer! If anyone is having the same problem I was having up until recently I would recommend purchasing an Itanda as a suitable replacement.
