So the biggest obstacle one can face is to shed the old. Because they are designed in such a way that they are pressed onto a splined shaft. This means the inner part is made of brass (a softer metal) and is designed to 'slip' over the knurled portion of the wiper motor shaft. When tightening the nut, the wiper arm is pressed against the motor shaft. This "smooths out" the brass into the shape of the corrugated portion of the motor shaft. However, the motor shaft is not made of brass. and so we have two different metals. hence we can have terrible corrosion problems (i.e. they can be difficult to remove). CUT IT DOWN WITH A DREMEEL AND LIFE WILL BE EASY! Then put on a new one.
