Review on 💻 Gennel 20g Silver Compound Thermal Conductive Grease Paste: Optimal Cooling for CPU, GPU, Chipset, and Ovens by Buddy Colbert

Excellent thermal results surprised me

I recently bought this thermal compound I had never heard of just to try. I figured it might not work that well because it was so cheap and I had never heard of it. Yesterday I used MX4 thermal paste on a Dell Inspiron 17 5755 processor and heatsink and the idle temps weren't great and were even worse under load. I used AIDA64 Extreme to stress the CPU and I got to 104C which is HOT! Now, this system will never see such a load on the CPU, since the user mostly surfs the Internet and Facebook and plays a few puzzles. However, whenever I review a system, I want it to be ready to fight for any scenario! So I decided to try this new Gennel range. My first thought was that he was REALLY fat! At first it seemed like there were some fibers in the mix! So I took the spatula that came with it and smeared it on a piece of paper where I could see it and to my surprise it was buttery soft with no fibers in it! He's so fat! So in my first application I used the angle of the spatula, placed a pea sized dab in the center of the CPU IHS and installed the heatsink. Having never used this brand before I removed the heatsink just to see how well it spreads and found that due to the thickness it does NOT spread like the MX4 which is much more fluid. So I used the spatula that came with it and spread a nice thin layer, basically painting IHS like before, right down to the whole pea or rice grain methods! lol :) Now it worked great! I got full coverage, no spilling (too much thermal paste and you have a mess on your hands and not easy to clean). So I reassembled the laptop, booted it up, went straight to AIDA64 and ran the tests. I was surprised! While idling, the CPU temperature dropped by 15°C and under load it dropped from 104°C to a constant 72°C, which by my calculation corresponds to a temperature drop of 32°C! Holy shit! This is my first run with this thermal paste and I don't have multiple data sets to draw conclusions from, but if my future results are anything like what I've seen here then I'll be buying truckloads of this stuff! I restore A LOT of laptops and desktops, so I use A LOT of thermal paste. This could be my new daily driver! I will add more to this review after a few more uses! But for now I will be using that instead of my MX4.
