I use this laptop stand in my living room with my laptop while watching TV. It fits a laptop (at any angle), headphones, a mouse and still has room for a beverage container. People seem to comment on this all the time. I just wanted something easy to place my laptop on instead of having it on my lap while sitting in the living room. 2 years later I'm still using it (I'm writing a review about it right now) and it's going strong. It rolls sideways easily when I have to get up. It securely holds all the hardware I have connected to the laptop and allows me to use the laptop for home use when I want, pretty easily actually. I have no complaints and will now get one for my wife as she is tired of having her laptop (on a laptop cooler, on her lap) and wants the convenience this device offers. Honestly I never thought about this application. But I bought one for my office for a server room a few years ago, and that's when I got the idea that maybe there could be apps for the home too.
