and I'm generally happy with the results

The Powershot GX 3 I bought to back up my EOS 7D Mark II didn't work due to a drastic drop in IQ. I decided to try the EOS M6 after reading about mirrorless cameras and realizing that the M6 has an APS-C sensor. I took it to the Botanical Garden to be photographed the next day after receiving it, I am generally satisfied with the result. I mainly shot the EF-M 18-150mm and rarely used the EF-M 11-22. Both lenses took some decent shots and reduced the overall size and weight of my gear. I've used the 7DMKII with a Sigma 50-150mm lens and am inclined to forgive a slight drop in IQ in exchange for a much smaller and lighter kit. The M6 may have trouble duplicating the 7DMKII for on-the-go filming. The 7DMKII focuses faster and snaps 10 frames in the blink of an eye. However, the M6 did a decent job of capturing a macro shot of a bumblebee jumping over a flower (photo attached). It takes a while to get used to using the tilt screen instead of the viewfinder for composing, but the more I've shot the better. Bright sunlight is challenging but not overwhelming. The tilting screen also helped with framing close-ups without having to dig your knees in the mud. Time will tell, but first impressions of the M6 are positive.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
