Review on Deadening Soundproof Protective Insulation Dampening by Shawn Quick

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great idea but mostly cosmetic

I agree that Tesla MUST include this OEM insulation. I found it quite difficult to install and the installation video is completely wrong. They only show ONE of the two installable parts, and the one they show does NOT require screws (just the included duct tape sticker). The other, smaller piece, covering the area where the rear speakers and subwoofer are, requires screws that are very difficult to secure properly in a tricky mounting position. The worst problem is that the tail is NOT perfectly aligned to hide under the rubber padding around the trunk opening. There was only a few hairs left to tuck in, so I had to buy some superglue and carefully glue it in place, which took a long time to hold before it finally stuck. If I had known EVERYTHING, I would not have bought it. However, I have to say that I don't know if this actually reduces interior noise, but I do believe it increases the bass from the rear subwoofer.
