It works, even if it's not enough. Considering it's the only option available, it's an important addition to the iPad Pro, adding the protection that the Magic Keyboard lacks and also keeping the Apple Pencil in place. If you ever make a big investment in an iPad Pro and want to "safely" use it like a tablet while still wanting the ability to use a single keyboard/trackpad that doesn't make much of a compromise other than being another big one Investment does not allow using the iPad as a tablet without unplugging it, that's all. It could really be tougher and offer more protection when the iPad is on its own but without other options it works great as advertised and if price is an issue let me know if you find anything comparable as they have a lot more may require as it is the only compatible option. For gaps when the iPad is closed in the Magic Keyboard, consider the screen protector and the extra thickness. In fact, Apple hasn't left room for more than a bare iPad. Not wanting to sacrifice my screen protector, the small gap doesn't even bother me, and the iPad's weight takes care of it pretty well. I never noticed and might just use the PEX protection they recommended. The charging port opening directly on the iPad is also large enough for a standard Apple cable. Other cables, only slightly larger, will not fit. Thankfully, the keyboard is the only way to charge it now that it's virtually wireless, and again the only product other than the Smart Keyboard that does.
