Review on Renewed Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Headphones by Darlene Myles

I bought these for home mixing and electric bass practice. I am very happy; I didn't think these headphones were refurbished. I found the sound to be very flat and honest (based on visual comparison with my spectrographic instruments), the headphones are very comfortable and was surprised that the gold cable adapter was also threaded (an added bonus I didn't mention). a locking mechanism that connects the cable to the headphone. Note that these headphones aren't "zero" quiet - I can still hear the spoken word in the room when I put them on. I also noticed that during recording my metronome click was being picked up by a very hot condenser mic in close proximity (@5"). I was wearing both headphones at the time (i.e. one ear was not open to hear into the room.. .it was a clean seep through the back of the cans.) I had a medium mix volume and it can certainly be toned down, but be aware that if you use them to record you may need to adjust what you're used to are , especially if you're into singing and the performer prefers to keep an ear "open".
