After using this thing a few times I promise you will forget how much you paid for it. Each side with a 3/4 inch strip. I recommend scraping the ends first before using this tool to catch the overhang. I also recommend gripping the tool by the top half to give room under your grip to allow the raw edges to pull away from the tool. On my first try, I grabbed it like a baseball and it didn't work that well since I had a handful had tape edges. Start in the middle of the tape and move from the end of the piece in one direction, then come back the other direction from the other good luck with the woodworking!
