Review on MT VIKI Matrix Switcher Splitter Backlit by Josh Allen

Pretty good value but a bit tricky to work with

Bought for a home office to simplify controlling multiple outputs from 8 or 9 systems through more than 6 different displays/inputs. I wanted to be able to set up different configurations depending on what systems I'm using for different tasks. I could get this to work with other options, but the matrix switcher makes it very easy to "move" outputs to different displays without messing around with cables or messing with inputs on all monitors. Since it was intended for the home office, I didn't want to pay a lot. It took a while to get everything working the way I wanted it to, and once you get the hang of it, it does a pretty good job. You definitely need to plan and use save/restore scenes to make them manageable. Some things I don't like or have had trouble with: - As mentioned before, it can be a bit tricky to set up. - There doesn't seem to be any tech support of any kind anyway - I couldn't get the web interface to work. It responds to echo requests but never returns actual data. Since I don't have a Windows computer, sometimes I get confused when you turn it off with the remote or use the switch on the back. I didn't have enough time to try to figure out the pattern, but I had to spend some time playing with it to get it working after cycling it on and off, especially when it turns off overnight. Again, overall it does what I need it for and was a good price for a home office situation. I'm just a little nervous that there doesn't seem to be a way to get support and now it seems like they aren't available so I'm not sure what's up with that.

Pros
  • Scene mode save and recall support, can save/recall up to 16 modes and automatically restore matrix to previous state after next power on. Also supports OTO mode (single connection).
Cons
  • Negative
