I bought this Janus about 10 months ago to complement my Noatak Gearslinger. After all strap lengths are adjusted, it fits perfectly. While most people use the Janus to fill it with EDC items or medical supplies, I already have an EDC bag (standard size Maxpedition) that I carry in one of Noatak's large bags. So I mainly use Janus to keep my Zen-Ray 8x42 monocular in front of me and ready for quick access. I also keep a fairly small spare knife (Esee Izula fixed blade) behind the outer front slot. While the monocular takes up most of the interior, there's plenty of room below for my original Leatherman tool and a 25-foot roll of Paracord 550. I also have a few very thin items to stash in the inner side pockets. like two Fresnel lenses, some emergency cash, ID and a credit card (NEVER keep all your credit cards in one place such as your wallet as you could lose your wallet). Every piece of Maxpedition gear is extremely versatile and the Janus Extension Pocket is no exception. I have read other Janus reviews on other forums etc where several buyers were not happy with the size of the backpack or the use of the extension strap. Well, in my opinion, both are perfect. You just need to research before you buy. I knew exactly how perfect it would be if this backpack was in the front and the seat belt was in the back. I even double checked the strap dimensions to make sure they would fit and adjust properly. I won't talk about the construction or quality of Janus as it is identical to everything else Maxpedition has to offer. If you know Maxpedition, you know that there is nothing better, period.
