I bought these to adapt a Turkish lamp to American lamps. 2 out of 5 worked without any changes. The adapter is too long and the bulb hits the rim of the adapter before touching the conductor at the base. Trimming the adapter rim (shortening) got them working. The bulbs are hidden, so no problem. For an open application, this would be far from ideal. I used GE bulbs so I don't think the bulbs were the problem. I used LED bulbs, which are slightly different in shape from traditional candelabra bulbs. You can work normally with incandescent lamps. Another issue to note is that once inserted into the adapter, you cannot remove the bulb without damaging the bulb. Luckily I had an extra pear.
